on a scale of 1 to 10, just how nerdy are glasses?
Last night I was driving us home when I mentioned that I was having a hard time finding somewhere to pull over. I wanted to pull over because I was tired of driving (keeping your foot on/near a clutch for over an hour hurts, guys), and instead of being like “I totally know what you mean,” Sean was like “Um…you can’t see somewhere to pull over?”
So this isn’t normal?
I’ve always had awesome vision. When I was around ten I begged my parents to take me to an eye doctor and I actually tried to fail my test — lots of blinking and squinting and ridiculous behavior went down, and the doctor was very nice about it and basically told my dad I was bluffing. What evs. I kind of gave up on the pipe dream when I hit fourteen and decided I didn’t want glasses anyway, and only recently started noticing that when I’m working at the computer my vision gets a little blurry, and that when I’m driving sometimes things that are far away are kind of hard to focus on. And I have headaches. And sore eyes. So now I’m a little intrigued about the possibility showing up in my real life.
I am so overwhelmed by choices! I realize I haven’t even taken an eye test yet, but just the mere mention of having glasses has sent me on an hour-long internet search for the kind that I would want to wear. I’m taking it seriously: this will be on my face a lot, I guess. I don’t think I can do contacts, 100% because I can’t stand the idea of even thinking about coming close to touching my eyes…let alone doing it.
I’m hoping, if I DO have to have glasses, they won’t be the kind that I have to wear all the time. I’m kind of into my look that doesn’t include glasses, and I feel like wearing glasses might alter the way I present myself. Right? Does it? It makes sense to me.
I’m also swamped with choices — metal frame? Plastic? Something super awesome that Jasper can’t break but that is cute? Rimless? Semi-rimless? I don’t even know for sure what this shit really means. So instead of figuring it out, I found a handful of really cute glasses cases on Etsy that I like.
How do you pick the kind of glasses that work for you? I totally don’t get it. Trial and error? I feel like if I needed glasses I’m going to end up buying ten or so pairs so I can change it up — I imagine some days I’ll want something wireless and less obvious, but other days something bolder and funky. I can’t imagine that I’ll really be satisfied with just one pair.
These are the ones I like (so far):
I HAVE TOO MANY CHOICES.
As if I couldn’t take this a step further.. I made a board on Pinterest. About glasses. Even though I don’t even know if I need them, as I’m basing most of this off the results of an ONLINE eye exam I just took.
Oh and yes. It’s a holiday in the U.S. today. So happy 4th to the Americans, and happy JUST ANOTHER DAY OF THE YEAR to the rest of you. Last night we may or may not have taught Jasper to say “God save King George.” You know. Just for fun.
Also..I just realized the other day when I deleted an album from Google+ it deleted ALL of the images I’ve uploaded to this blog. I know it’s a long shot, but is there anyway to retrieve them? I have the photos saved elsewhere, but I hate the idea of having hundreds of entries that are all missing photos. Boo.
