But seriously. It’ll all be ok.

It just occurred to me that it’s Friday and I haven’t blogged all week. It doesn’t feel like that’s the case, but the last time I even visited this screen was Sunday to post more about Panama… so there it is.

I’m not going to get into a big, emotional, description-heavy post about it, but I’ll go ahead and say this: Sean and I are currently working through a lot of things that have damaged our relationship for the last year and a half. It hasn’t been 100% consistently bad the entire time, there were plenty of ups, but there have been a lot of things going on, the type of things that begin little and snowball into much bigger things, and that’s what we’re focusing on. We hit crisis point a few days ago, and decided to forge ahead together.

I’ve never really gotten too deep into anything negative that happens in our relationship on here — mostly, that’s just something I don’t want to talk about. No offense, but I’m not sure many people need to know about fights we have or things one of us says to the other that really sucks. I feel the same about this situation. This involves more than just me and my musings about life, so… it’s staying behind mostly closed doors.

I can, and will, say this: right now, we’re both committed to seeing if what we have is still workable, and if the damage caused by what has happenedĀ (no one cheated and no one was abused or anything like that) can be repaired. I have no idea if all of this is just part of the normal ups and downs of long-term relationships (this is my longest relationship). I’m going to assume it is, because I’m not sure how else people stay married for thirty, forty, fifty years — I’m assuming they have highs, lows, and a lot of working at it in between. My opinion now is that… you simply choose whether or not that work is something you want to do. Right now, we both do.

And now, just to give us all a break…more photos! Fifteen minutes with Jasper can take you on a quest to dig up dirt, an boat ride in an ocean of grass, and get ya ten mosquito bites (each) that will bother you for days on end:

And yes, I knew he was missing a shoe. It fell off when he ran outside and he said he didn’t want to put it back on… so he didn’t.
